Ricky Strauss was born in Chicago, where he trained and remained in the hair industry for over 40 years as owner and operator of two successful shops in the north Chicago suburbs. In 2017, he moved out of the Midwest and made Palm Springs his home, which he shares with his husband and three dogs. He immediately saw the potential of the quaint barber shop located in the Sunny Dunes shopping district and purchased the business in 2018. Ricky is known for his perfectly shaped beard cuts, and hair/beard coloring specifically tailored to skin complexion. He always strives to offer friendly and reliable service to his local clients and a warm welcome to all visitors. He is joined in the shop by fellow barbers, James, Jesse, and Scott.

James Geisdorf was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Minnesota – the birth place of Miss Judy Garland. After living and working in Sacramento for 25 years, James moved to Palm Springs where he loves the constant sunshine and perfect weather. He received his barber training locally at the International School of Beauty in Palm Desert. He has been working as a barber now for twelve years and loves his profession. His favorite challenge is taking an unruly mess of hair and giving it a well-groomed and finished look. James loves his regular clients as well as getting to know people as they come through the desert on a visit.

Jesse James Moreno was born in Montana and studied at the Paul Mitchell School of Memphis. He brings a decade of hair-cutting experience, specializing in precision cuts, texture, and shape that grows out clean. He is known for his intuitive consultations, strong technical foundations, and styles that fit real life — not trends that expire. He brings a calm, grounded, and deeply human approach to the chair, creating space for real conversation. He enjoys connecting deeply with his clients, sharing astrology, and helping people better understand themselves while looking good and feeling confident!
Scott Nash is a native of Virginia and received his Cosmetology license in 2001 from Vidal Sassoon Academy in Santa Monica. He has worked at several respected salons in Beverly Hills and West Hollywood including The Jim Wayne Salon, Gamine, and Aveda concept salon, Planet. Discovering his passion for barbering in 2004, he dedicated himself exclusively to men’s grooming, refining his craft at well-known barbershops such as Shorty’s in West Hollywood, Rudy’s in Silverlake, and Floyd’s 99 Barbershop. After 35 years in Los Angeles, Scott is proud to call Palm Springs home. He brings his experience, artistry, and commitment to exceptional client care to Sunny Dunes Barbershop. His approach combines precision cutting, attention to detail, and a focus on creating balanced, personalized results to every client.
