Ricky Strauss was born in Chicago where he trained and remained in the hair industry for over 35 years as owner and operator of three successful shops in the north suburbs. In 2017, he moved out of the Midwest for the first time and made Palm Springs his permanent home with his husband, two dogs, and a cat. He immediately saw the potential of the quaint barber shop located in the Sunny Dunes shopping district and purchased the business in 2018. He always strives to offer a friendly and reliable service to his local clients and a warm welcome to all visitors. He is joined in the shop by fellow barbers, James and Scott.
James Geisdorf was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Minnesota – the birth place of Miss Judy Garland. After living and working in Sacramento for 25 years, James moved to Palm Springs where he loves the constant sunshine and perfect weather. He received his barber training locally at the International School of Beauty in Palm Desert. He has been working as a barber now for six years and loves his profession. His favorite challenge is taking an unruly mess of hair and giving it a well-groomed and finished look. James loves his regular clients as well as getting to know people as they come through the desert on a visit.
Scott Moore relocated to the west coast from Pennsylvania some 20 years ago. After a brief stint in Portland, Oregon, he moved to San Francisco where he began his barber training. In 2012, he finished his training, hit the ground running, and really honed his skills behind the chair. He prides himself on clear communication with his clients so that they are happy with the results. The recent shut-downs have left him really missing his clientele and the feeling of making someone’s day by giving them the cut they are looking for. In March of 2021, Scott decided to migrate south and headed to the desert. He saw Sunny Dunes Barber Shop in his first days here and knew that this was the place that would be his new home.
